At the end of September, I took a real short trip to the East side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains near Bishop to see some fall colors in the mountains.

I drove around June Lake Loop, but there was only a little color to be seen there.

Then I went down into Bishop Creek Canyon and was rewarded with lots of color. Saw a lot on the way to South Lake, then more around the lake after I took a short hike. It was probably 1-2 weeks from full color around the lake.

But when I went to North Lake, the colors exploded all around me. I’m fairly sure the color was very nearly at it’s peak when I was there. As I circled North Lake, more and more color greeted me.

Then the inner geek in me took over as I found what I assume was where the macOS High Sierra wallpaper photo was taken. I even found what I assumed was the actual BOULDER that it was taken from (the landscape seemed to match exactly with the photo Apple used for the wallpaper from the top of the boulder).
