Mile 1190.3 to 1196.5 – 6.2 miles total hiked on PCT<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the lack of cell service and even bandwidth on Wi-Fi in Sierra city, uploading most of my photos will have to wait until I have some decent bandwidth. BUT I will upload what I can whenever I have some bandwidth, even it\u2019s just one photo and a brief description of what happened this particular day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This would be a short day since I only had a little over 6 miles to go to finish California section L and reach Sierra city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mostly the day was spent going through forests with the occasional view of the surrounding mountains. Pleasant and mostly downhill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few creeks to crossover before I hit the raging North Yuba River. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I say \u2018raging\u2019, I mean flowing a lot more than anything else I\u2019ve seen recently on the trail. In the Sierra, there were a lot of water sources and a lot of rivers and creeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I get further into northern California and further into August, those are gonna start to dry up. Literally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once past the north Yuba river, I reached highway 49 and got a ride into Sierra city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was going to stay at a resort that had (as far as I could see) the only restaurant for dinner and breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Otherwise, I went to the store got some Diet Coke, ice cream, and a strawberry shake. I also picked up some resupply packages from home, from Amazon, and from big Agnes. Big Agnes was replacement zippers for my tent. I have the universal ones on there right now that are working so I\u2019m not planning on using these\u2026 yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was supposed to get a shipment from Osprey, but it was not there. I checked at the post office and they didn\u2019t seem to have it. The next morning I went to ship some of my extra food to Old Station, which was the second resupply location from Sierra city. I was counting on Belsen to have enough food to buy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By amazing coincidence, the owner of the store sent his grandson to pick up their mail and the postmaster found my package in their PO Box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Great\u2026 except it was the wrong belt buckle. It was double the size of the belt buckle on the osprey Exos pro 55 that I was using. The the buckle on my pack has been behaving itself, so it might not be a big deal. We\u2019ll see what they say when I can let them know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rest of the day was spent washing my clothes, treating my clothes with Permithrin to keep the insects away, and sorting through my resupply box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh, and taking a nice long shower. Even if it was only two nights away from Truckee, it still felt good to take a nice hot shower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next morning I had breakfast and I had lunch at the store before headed back to the trail midday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
