The first day was mostly driving to the gate, registering, and a short hike to the Big Trees Camp near Mt Mkubwa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second day started with clear skies, but deteriorated into rain as we made our way up the Shira Plateau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the second night and morning were clear and I saw vast fields of stars, the face of Mt Kilimanjaro lit up by the nearly full moon, and then a glorious sunrise behind Kilimanjaro. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hike up to Mior Huts was again spoiled by rain. I may have scheduled this trip a bit later in the dry season than I should have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next day was spent going along the Northern Circuit towards the Summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then on day 5, we climbed from Third Cave to School Hut. Should have been slow and grueling. But we made good time and I was felling good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summit tomorrow!!! Wish me luck, since I\u2019ll need every bit I can get. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
