After battling the wind the previous day and part of the night, I woke up to an amazing sight.

Even if I was mostly looking for something out of the wind, part of me also liked this site because it did have a partial view to the east.

I think I chose wisely for both reasons.

Maybe I should go this way? 😀

There were two water tanks at mile 59 and mile 62 that I knew I had to hit at least one of them.

I ended up visiting both, but only really needed the second one. Such as life in the desert, you take the water when and where you get it.

Trail-made arrows and other clues were common on the PCT as other hikers helped guide thos that came behind them in the right directions.

You do still have to be careful not to blindly follow these markers, since sometimes they can be wrong.

I ended up hiking to a road junction with a spring with more water, but decided to backtrack a few hundred feet to camp somewhere that had some wind protection. This was mostly because there were no good sites after that as far as I could see from the FarOut app. There was just a long ridge line to hike along, which doesn’t always invite flat surfaces to camp on.

I did have some views from this campsite so nothing to complain about.

Mile 56.7 to 68.4 – 11.7 miles hiked on the PCT
