The first day was mostly driving to the gate, registering, and a short hike to the Big Trees Camp near Mt Mkubwa.

The second day started with clear skies, but deteriorated into rain as we made our way up the Shira Plateau.

But the second night and morning were clear and I saw vast fields of stars, the face of Mt Kilimanjaro lit up by the nearly full moon, and then a glorious sunrise behind Kilimanjaro.

The hike up to Mior Huts was again spoiled by rain. I may have scheduled this trip a bit later in the dry season than I should have.

The next day was spent going along the Northern Circuit towards the Summit.

Then on day 5, we climbed from Third Cave to School Hut. Should have been slow and grueling. But we made good time and I was felling good.

Summit tomorrow!!! Wish me luck, since I’ll need every bit I can get.
