I ended up not hiking for the past two weekends. First, I just didn’t feel like hiking. Then, I caught a bad cold or the flu (not COVID-19, fortunately).

So, the first weekend in May I was determined to get out. And failed miserably on Saturday.

I managed to get a bike ride in on Saturday, but it wasn’t until Sunday morning that I was able to get out the door after breakfast to do some hiking.

I actually did a new area. It was a loop up to Dinosaur Peak that was not to far from my home. It was a pleasant hike and was a good hike to do while I was still trying to get back into hiking mode after my cold.

The only problem was, I took a wrong urn on the way down and think I went down a fire road that wasn’t open to the public. I was halfway own before I realized my mistake. I didn’t feel like climbing back up tot eh ridge to take the proper trail down, so I cheated and exited out via the fire road.

8 miles al together (correct trial may have been closer to 10 miles, 11 if I had doubled back). A pretty decent hike.

I’ll have to force myself to do a big hike next weekend. Need to be prepared for a Memorial Day weekend backpacking trek thru the Ohlone Wilderness.
