Mile 1411.3 to 1426.2 – 14.9 miles total hiked on PCT + 1 mile to see Burney Falls and resupply

For my zero day at Burney Mountain Guest Ranch I could just sit back and relax.

Oh, I also had to do my laundry, fix my tent zipper (again), go through my food to see what I had before picking up my resupply package at Burney Falls, charge all my electronics and batteries, and (of course) drink some Coca-Cola. 😄

And wait till it was nice and hot in the afternoon and then jump in the resorts saltwater pool!!

Yes, it’s a hard life on the trail… so we enjoy the zero days off trail all the more. 😛

I also had the chance to see the Partial Lunar Eclipse from the ranch.

Unfortunately, the clouds didn’t get the memo, so there wasn’t much to see. 😕

The main objective for this day was to reach Burney Falls State Park, pick up a resupply package, and see Burney Falls.

It would also be the end of PCT California section “N” and the start of section “O”.

Since I live in California, I was a little surprised that I never got up to see Burney Falls or a lot of the other areas that I’ve been hiking through.

In addition to places to see, I also have identified some possible retirement locations.

So, at mile 1420.6 I finished PCT California section “N” and moved into section “O”. P, Q, and R will finish California for me.

This was also the junction for the Burney Falls State Park. In addition to ice cream and getting my resupply package, it also has Burney Falls which is a spectacular waterfall.

Once back PCT, I headed north once again. First thing I would pass was a hydroelectric plant.

Then it was a gentle climb up to a ridge overlooking the area and the river.

Then I approached Rock Creek and the bridge over it. I needed to collect water from the creek, but I was very careful because there apparently is a hornets nest underneath the bridge.

And then I found a camp site. Just a flat surface in the forest. Wasn’t gonna have a grand view for sunset or sunrise, but I would get a good sleep hopefully. 

I’ve stopped counting people on the trail. There are a lot of PCT southbound hikers on the trail now. If I had to guess it’s probably the start of the bubble of the southbounders.

There were 3 northbounders that leapfrogged me today. They were all at the Burney Mountain Guest Ranch this morning.
