Mile 1158.6 to 1173.4 – 14.8 miles total hiked on PCT
Due to the lack of cell service and even bandwidth on Wi-Fi in Sierra city, uploading most of my photos will have to wait until I have some decent bandwidth. BUT I will upload what I can whenever I have some bandwidth, even it’s just one photo and a brief description of what happened this particular day.
After resting my injured right foot for another day, I set off from the interstate 80 rest area north on the PCT.
To start there was a climb up towards Castle Pass. Not too steep so I was able to get up there within an hour and a half.
CASTLE PASS 7,929 feet!
I had climbed up to Castle Pass several times in the past, including once by snowshoes in the winter. It’s basically how you access Castle Peak, which is a prominent peak that you see along highway I-80. No reason to go over to the peak this time since I’ve climbed it several times.

So, I continued Northward on the PCT towards the Peter Grubb Hut down in Round Valley. It’s mostly used in the winter for cross country skiers to do some long through skiing.

It was mostly a hike through meadows and along ridge lines. There were some standout views along the ways, but there were some repetitive section that seemed to be the same terrain over and over.

UnFortunately, I ended up at a campsite that didn’t have much of a view, but it was a nice first day back on the trail. My foot didn’t bother me at all.
