Mile 1269.6 to 1281.1 – 11.5 miles total hiked on PCT + 3.5 on walk to Bucks Summit

Due to the lack of cell service and even bandwidth on Wi-Fi in Sierra city, uploading most of my photos will have to wait until I have some decent bandwidth. BUT I will upload what I can whenever I have some bandwidth, even it’s just one photo and a brief description of what happened this particular day.

After a zero night at Bucks Lake, this would be a big climb up to a ridge. Belden was still 19 miles away on the trail, so I would not be able to make it all the way.

Not sure how far I will go today and will probably leave it up to chance and finding finding a campsite with a great view along the way.

Hopefully, not in the first few miles. That would be a very short day on the trail.😄

Tried to get a heads up to Bucks Summit, but I ended up walking most of the way. One car did stop, but it was only a quarter mile from the Summit. I took it anyway just to save a quarter mile on my feet. 🦶😀

Once back on the PCT I headed north again. Unfortunately it was quite a climb from here. Fortunately, it wasn’t that steep.

It was pretty exposed, so I did get out my umbrella to block the sun from hitting the top of my head.

Some nice views as I climbed up.

Once along the ridge, the trail leveled off and traced its way along the edge.

Sadly, the green forest gave way to another burn zone.

I got water at a spring, then passed on stoping at a nice campsite in a living forest. No view and it seemed too early to stop.

Sadly, most of the afternoon was dead, burned forests. Not many places to camp for miles.

Until… I found a nice site away from all the dead trees (safer that way) and a fabulous view!

Sunset did not disappoint.
