Flies, why did it have to be flies?

So since California section E is the start of the long desert section. I expected there to be heat all day.

But I was still at elevation, so it wasn’t that bad in the morning.

What was bad was almost anytime. I stopped for a rest. A swarm of biting flies would attack me. And according to people passing me, them too.

I’ve had some problems on the step, but that much really. Only use my insect spray a few times in the past 43 days.

I started to use it a lot today. Find me mostly became a motivation to keep moving.

The PCT cross highway into Green Valley about 2 miles from where I wanted to camp. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any decent campsites. The one decent one I did find had bear dung right in the middle of it. I decided not to fate and kept going in hopes that I would find good campsite.

I finally did find a good campsite, but it was next to a Forrest service fire station after 2 miles.

No trail magic, but a place to camp and some water that had to be filtered. If I wanted to hit into Green Valley, I could’ve gotten some Diet Coke or whatever, but I was too spent. I just set up my tent had dinner and collapsed inside.
