So, as I’ve hiked the PCT I’ve seen many plants and animals. I decided to get an app for my phone so I could determine what everything was and also to identify the poisonous plants and any dangerous animals.
I especially wanted to be on the lookout for poodle dog bush, which is particularly poisonous to the touch.
So I got the ‘iNaturalist’ app. It worked pretty good and helped me identify a good deal of what I saw. I was even surprised that it was able to tell me what kind of animal left particular feces/dung. I was able to verify the presence of American black bears by their droppings on the trail. Still haven’t seen one physically.
Check it out.
