Mile 566.5 to 570.8 – 4.3 miles total hiked

I spent three nights in Tehachapi to rest, recover, relax, heal, resupply food, repair and replace equipment. 566 Miles had taken its toll on my body and equipment.

Was also nice that I wasn’t on the trail for two days of really bad weather with rain, wind, and even snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains. And guess where I’m headed? The Sierra, of course. 😀

I had hoped to get back on the trail Friday morning, but I was still waiting for one package with a pair of new hiking pants. My current ones are starting to show a lot of wear and tear, including several big tears. They are also a little big for me (I’ve lost some weight on the trail). I’ve done some adjustments to try to make them fit tighter, but it hasn’t been entirely successful. So hopefully the new pants will fit better and hold up better to the trail, but we’ll have to see. I had hoped to get them earlier in the week but because of memorial day shipping times got screwed up.

Friday was kind of overcast and dreary in Tehachapi anyway. I did finally get back to the trail around 3 o’clock. Nice and sunny at the trail… such is weather in the mountains. 😀

It was also very windy as I climbed higher on the trail. Because of the late start, I only got a little over 4 miles of hiking done on the trail.

I managed to find a campsite with some wind protection to keep me from blowing away… hopefully.

This section of the PCT (California Section F) is only 85.3 miles long, but has some very long water carries, and also dipped down into the desert again. It won’t be easy.
