Mile 1008 to 1018.1 – 10.1 miles total hiked on PCT
There was really only one goal for the day which was to get to Sonora Pass and get a Diet Coke at Kenedy Meadows 🤣
First thing to do was to climb up onto a ridge that overlooked Kenedy Meadows to the west. Nothing particularly hard about this climb, it just took time.

But it was worth it!!

From there, the trail went across the ridge line. Beautiful views all the way.

After a bit, the trail went across the ridge to the east revealing a whole new side of the ridge. Leavitt Peak (11,535 feet) dominated the middle of this series of basins. I did not climb it.
There were still some snow fields to cross, but nothing too hard.

And just to keep things interesting, the trail shifted back to the west side of the ridge again.

And then the final descent to Sonora Pass began. All downhill to the highway!

And finally pavement marked the end of PCT California Section “I” and the start of Section “J”.
But that section would have to wait until I resupplied, rested, had some real food, did laundry, got a shower, drank some Diet Coke, and slept in a bed. Not necessary in that order.
I ended up spending two nights at Kennedy Meadows Resort to do even more of the above. 😇
