Mile 1081.3 to 1093.4 – 12.1 miles total hiked on PCT

So I had 12 miles to go to reach Echo Lakes, the end of PCT California section J!

A little climb up to Showers Lake and then mostly downhill from there. Unfortunately, some of the trails were a little rough in places so that slowed me down a bit.

The glimpses of Lake Tahoe in the distance through the trees, encouraged me to continue.

Unfortunately, the last part of the trail before Highway 50 was a burned out section of forest. After four years it didn’t really look that different not much regrowth seems to be taking place so far. 😕😞

Highway 50 it’s time to go to Lake Tahoe!

Nope, not quite. I still have to go about a mile and a half to Echo Lakes, where the end of the section is.

I wonder what those odd metal boxes are?

And…GOAL!!!

I went to the Echo Lakes Château, and got some Diet Coke… make that Pepsi. 🙁

Then I arranged a ride into Lake Tahoe, found a good hotel to stay in. During this process, I decided to take two zero days. Till three nights in Tahoe… what could go wrong?

* $150 lost that gambling for one thing.

* Double shipment of my resupply gear from Amazon.

* Slow pizza restaurant made me miss sunset on the last night.
