Mile 675.3 to 688.4 – 13.1 miles total hiked on PCT

The day began with a great sunrise all around. Since that’s why I wanted to camp in this area, It was a good start to the day.

The morning was pretty much a long hike along the crest of several different mountains and ridges. fortunately, most of it in shade.

Once the trail took a sharp turn west, I had to pull out and use my umbrella to keep the midmorning sun from boiling my brain.

At chimney Creek, my hopes for some trail magic was dashed. The couple that provided trail magic at Kelso valley road said they might relocate to the chimney Creek.

Oh well, I’m only one night away from Kenedy Meadows. Two nights at most.

I took a lunch break there made sure I had enough water and then headed up to Fox Mill Spring. More water awaited me there. I camped near the spring last time, but during the time of day I intend to go up at least a couple miles further. All desert after that, so not much shade.

I ended up climbing the whole 4 miles to the High Point before I found a good camping spot. Ah well, less miles to do the next day.

I also got my first view of Mt Whitney for this trek.

And the sunset was pretty nice from here.
