The huge winter snowfall in the Sierra Nevada Mountains made planning treks in the mountains difficult. I had originally hoped to go to Japan and hike in the Japan Alps this summer. That would have solved all the issues caused by the large California snowfall, but various issues prevented me from doing that trip. So, I had to look back at hikes closer to home.
Some possible section hikes on the PCT were on my wishlist:
Hike section G from Walker Pass to Mt Whitney.
Finish hiking section I from Tilden Lake to Sonora Pass
Finish hiking section K from Barker Pass to Donner Summit
Hike section L from Donner Summit to Sierra City
PCT Section G would be a big hike and I had researched the other sections last year, so a lot of my planning focused on the 115 mile section G hike.
The biggest problem was most of these hikes would need to wait until the snow had mostly melted out and trail conditions allowed me to start the various hikes.
That ended up meaning I had to wait till August to consider doing any of the hikes.
