Mile 845.6 to 858.9 – 13.3 miles total hiked on PCT + 1.5 miles to Muir Trail Ranch

Mile 846.6 HALFWAY POINT FOR CALIFORNIA PCT SECTIONS A-R!!!

McClure Meadows is a fabulous place to camp, but it was too early in the day to stop. So, I just paused and admired the view for a bit before continuing north.

After McClure, some more meadows and Evolution Creek gave me something to look at.

Then a new bridge to try out. Two years ago, they had a temporary bouncy bridge to get across the river, but shortly after I passed through the area, the new bridge was put into place. This was my first chance to try it.

Muir Trail Rock.

Muir Trail Hut.

Then as the day was drawing to a close, I decided to take a Zero Night at Muir Trail Ranch. Real food for dinner and breakfast, a tent cabin to sleep in, and…

Hot springs to wash up and the soak the sore body parts always.

AND it turned out to be a good choice not to be on the trail in my tent: we had a good 3 hours of rain showers that night.

So, still have NOT been rained on when on trail this year!
